Max Verstappen claimed his first Singapore Grand Prix victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, leading all 62 laps to secure his 73rd Formula 1 career win and beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by 7.335 seconds, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli completed the podium in third for Mercedes.
Verstappen controlled the race from lights to flag on a one-stop strategy, managing two Virtual Safety Car periods to extend his advantage over Leclerc. The Red Bull driver crossed the line in 1:42:00.785, with Antonelli finishing 24.573 seconds behind the winner after a late battle for the final podium position.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished fourth and fifth for McLaren, 40.506 and 49.644 seconds off the pace respectively. Lewis Hamilton, driving for Ferrari, slipped to sixth after failing to hold off Antonelli and Norris in the closing laps despite running a longer first stint on soft tyres. Hamilton apologised to the team over the radio following the race.
The race was twice interrupted by Virtual Safety Car periods. The first was triggered when Gabriel Bortoleto stopped his Audi near the pit lane exit with a suspected gearbox problem, which subsequently caught fire. The second came after Lance Stroll retired at Turn 15 with a clutch issue. Leclerc and Antonelli used that second neutralisation to make their second pit stops, while Hamilton stayed out, briefly inheriting second place before Leclerc returned on fresher tyres and passed him on lap 46.
Antonelli’s race was not without incident. The Italian received a black and white flag for track limit violations and reported fluid around his feet and braking difficulties, though Mercedes attributed the fluid to heat soak. He ultimately passed both Hamilton and Norris in the final stint to secure third.
Liam Lawson finished seventh for Racing Bulls ahead of Nico Hülkenberg in eighth and George Russell ninth for Mercedes, who recovered from the back of the grid. Isack Hadjar rounded out the points in 10th.
Oscar Piastri made an additional unscheduled stop on lap 42 after suffering a slow puncture, rejoining in sixth before reclaiming fifth from Hamilton late in the race. Bortoleto, Stroll, and Franco Colapinto — who retired with a suspected gearbox problem — were the three non-finishers.
