Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has arrived in Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with George and Kimi set to tackle the Baku City Circuit as Formula 1 marks ten years since it first raced on the demanding street layout.
The Baku City Circuit presents one of the most distinctive challenges on the Formula 1 calendar, threading through the narrow streets of the Old City before opening onto a long straight running alongside the Caspian Sea. The combination demands precision through tight corners, strong braking performance, and raw straight-line speed within the same lap.
According to Mercedes-AMG F1, both drivers will need confidence through the circuit’s narrow sections as the team targets a strong result at the street circuit. The race is scheduled for Saturday, with the first on-track action beginning Thursday.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most unpredictable rounds of the Formula 1 season since its debut a decade ago. The circuit’s unique character — switching between the claustrophobic walls of the Old City and the wide-open run to the final corner — has historically produced dramatic racing and unexpected results.
