The 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone will run as a Sprint weekend, according to details published by Mercedes-AMG F1 in an official team communication promoting its fan prediction game for the event.

The team’s announcement references Sprint Qualifying taking place on Friday at Silverstone, confirming the condensed Sprint format for one of Formula 1’s marquee events. Mercedes listed drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli as its racing lineup for the weekend, with the team inviting fans to predict how the pair will perform.

Mercedes is running two rounds of its fan prediction contest across the British GP weekend. The first window opens Thursday and closes before Sprint Qualifying on Friday, while the second runs from after Qualifying through to one hour before lights out on race day. Registered members of the team’s Silver Arrow fan community can accumulate points across the season for prizes.

The Sprint format compresses the traditional race weekend schedule, moving qualifying sessions earlier and adding a shorter Sprint race alongside the main Grand Prix. The format has been a fixture on the F1 calendar in recent seasons, with select Grands Prix designated as Sprint events each year.

Silverstone remains one of the most significant venues on the Formula 1 calendar, and the addition of the Sprint format adds an extra competitive session for fans attending or watching the British Grand Prix.

Mercedes enters the Silverstone weekend continuing its 2026 campaign with Russell and Antonelli, the driver pairing the team has fielded throughout the season under the current regulatory era.
