Isack Hadjar says racing alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull is unlike anything he has experienced in his career, describing the four-time World Champion as a driver with “no peak” who delivers consistency no rival can easily replicate.
Speaking on the official F1 podcast Beyond the Grid, the French driver reflected on his first season as Verstappen’s teammate in 2026 — a campaign that has included podium finishes at Monaco and Azerbaijan, the latter coming as his most competitive weekend yet despite missing the three previous races with a wrist injury.
“I’m probably facing the prime of the prime of the level you can achieve in Formula 1 and he’s just next to me in the garage,” Hadjar said. “To experience this at my age, this early in my career, I’m one very, very lucky guy.”
Hadjar, who earned his Red Bull seat after a strong debut campaign in 2025 that included a podium at Zandvoort, said Verstappen’s defining quality is not raw speed in isolation but the relentlessness with which he applies it across an entire lap.
“Let’s say on a track, you have like 15 corners and maybe there’s one corner you master, or two, three, four, five corners, you do really, really well. But he matches you there and then on the others, he keeps that same level,” Hadjar said. “It’s like he has no peak, it’s flat. It’s up there, but it’s flat. It’s what makes him such a tough driver.”
Despite the challenge, Hadjar said the working relationship with Verstappen has been positive. “He’s a very, very kind guy. We get along really well. I’m grateful because he gives me so much to work with, to improve, which probably no one else can give.”
Hadjar acknowledged he still has areas to refine before consistently challenging for wins. “There are a few things that I need to align a bit more. Sometimes it can be a race start that we compromise. Sometimes it’s that first stint with the heavy car killing the tyres a bit early,” he said. “It’s all these little things you can align like Max does, and then you’re in contention.”
Red Bull confirmed ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix that Hadjar will remain with the team through 2027, a decision Verstappen publicly supported.
