Isack Hadjar will return to the Red Bull Racing cockpit at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after being declared fit following a wrist injury that sidelined him for three consecutive races.
Red Bull confirmed the news in an official statement, ending Hadjar’s absence that began after he sustained the injury during summer training. The Franco-Algerian driver missed the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, and the inaugural Madring race as a result.
“Oracle Red Bull Racing is delighted to welcome Isack back this weekend,” the team said. “Having made a successful recovery from his wrist injury, Isack will return to action at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday.”
Hadjar’s return restores Red Bull’s regular 2026 driver pairing alongside Max Verstappen. Liam Lawson, who stepped in as Hadjar’s replacement across all three missed rounds, will return to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls. Yuki Tsunoda, who had moved to Red Bull to accommodate Lawson’s promotion, reverts to reserve duties.
Red Bull paid tribute to Lawson’s contribution during the stand-in stint. “The team would like to sincerely thank Liam for his professionalism, dedication and hard work over the past three races,” the statement read. “Stepping in under challenging circumstances, he delivered some impressive performances and made a valuable contribution to the team.”
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend operates on an amended schedule to avoid a clash with the country’s Remembrance Day on September 27. Free Practice will take place on Thursday, Qualifying on Friday, and the Grand Prix on Saturday at the Baku City Circuit.
