Cadillac Formula 1 has announced three senior technical appointments, bringing in experienced figures from Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes as the team moves to strengthen its engineering structure in its debut season on the grid.
Craig Skinner joins as Chief Development Engineer, Eric Blandin as Head of Aerodynamics, and Tim Lean as Chief Engineer - Aerodynamics Modelling and Simulation. All three are expected to join the team within the coming months, according to an official team statement.
Skinner spent 20 years at Red Bull, serving as Chief Designer and contributing to the team’s consecutive Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships from 2021 through 2024. At Cadillac, he will oversee the connection between concept, design, analysis and delivery.
Blandin brings more than 11 years of Formula 1 experience, having held the roles of Chief Aerodynamicist at Mercedes and Deputy Technical Director at Aston Martin. He will lead Cadillac’s aerodynamics group.
Lean rounds out the trio with a career spanning McLaren, Red Bull and five years as principal aerodynamicist at Ferrari. He will manage Aerodynamics Modelling and Simulation at the American outfit.
Team Principal Marcin Budkowski, who replaced Graeme Lowdon in the role earlier this season, said the hires reflect the team’s broader ambitions. “These appointments represent a vital step in the technical evolution of the team,” Budkowski said. “Bringing together experienced leadership across development, aerodynamics and modelling will help us create a stronger integrated technical organization and improve performance on track. Craig, Eric and Tim bring race and championship-winning experience to Cadillac F1 in areas that are central to our long-term development.”
The official team statement described the appointments as “an important milestone in the continued technical evolution of the organisation, strengthening leadership across vehicle development and the broader aerodynamics function.”
